Meridian Police arrested Jason Kelly, 33, of Kuna after police posed as a 13-year-old girl that text messages suggest that he had sex with to set up a meeting in Meridan.

Meridian police arrested a Kuna sex offender on felony charges of lewd conduct after being accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl he met on Tinder.

Jason Kelley Smith, 33, of Kuna was arrested Thursday night after police posed as the teen through text messages to set up a meeting off of Overland Road and Millennium Way in Meridian.

Meridian police were contacted on Wednesday by the parents of the teen after they saw text messages between the girl and Smith on her computer.

The girl's parents were concerned that she had snuck out and had sex with him.

Police were able to confirm that they did have sex, according to Meridian police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea.

Smith was booked into the Ada County Jail on felony charges of lewd conduct with a child under 16 and two felony counts of probation violations.

Smith is a registered sex offender in Idaho, with two counts of sexual battery of a child under 16/17 in Ada and Canyon counties.

He was placed on parole in December 2009.
