CALDWELL — No charges were filed against a Caldwell couple who appeared in a Canyon County courtroom Thursday afternoon.

Zackurer and Suzanne McMurrian, both 25, were arrested Wednesday on child abuse charges after officers found three small children malnourished and with multiple injuries they could not explain.

According to Caldwell Police, officers and a caseworker with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare went out to a home on Hannibal Street in Caldwell Wednesday night after receiving a report that the three children had burns, bruises and other injuries.

Police say they found the children - a 3-year-old boy, a 2-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl - malnourished and living in unsanitary conditions. All three had "numerous injuries" that the McMurrians could not explain, officers said.

The toddlers were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors discovered even more injuries on all three of the children. The children have been placed in protective custody.

The parents were arrested and booked into the Canyon County Jail. Both Zackurer and Suzanne McMurrian were facing three counts each of felony injury to a child, but no charges were filed against the couple at this time pending further investigation, according to a spokesman for the prosecutor's office.

Suzanne McMurrian was already on felony probation in a separate injury to a child case from 2016.
