NAMPA -- A Boise man accused of killing two people as he led Nampa Police on a pursuit early Saturday is facing felony charges.

Joseph Michael Sena, 50, is currently being held in the Canyon County Jail on two charges of vehicular manslaughter, as well as felony eluding and a persistent violator enhancement.

According to Idaho State Police, Sena was fleeing from Nampa Police officers in his pickup when the deadly crash happened at about 12:15 a.m. Saturday.

Nampa Police Lt. Eric Skoglund said the chase started after an officer attempted to pull Sena over on suspicion of DUI. The suspect refused to pull over, Skogland said, trying to get away from the officer and driving "far in excess of the speed limit."

As the chase continued, Sena's pickup hit a passenger car in the intersection of 16th Ave North and 3rd Street North.

Both people in the car died at the scene. The victims' identities have not yet been released, because authorities are still working to get in contact with their family members.

Sena was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for treatment, then booked into the jail. According to court records, he had an active warrant out of Ada County for DUI at the time of the chase.

The case remains under investigation.
