ONTARIO -- Three people have been taken into custody in connection with the slaying of a Nyssa man who was gunned down in Malheur County Wednesday night.
Malhuer District Attorney David Goldthorpe said Friday morning that one suspect in the shooting remains at large.
Those arrested are 29-year-old Sean Prokop of Ontario, 25-year-old Sara Carter of Ontario, and 24-year-old Ryan Macias, an Idaho resident. All three are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful use of a weapon and hindering prosecution.
The fourth suspect's name has not yet been released.
The investigation began Wednesday night after troopers responding to a 911 call found 54-year-old Douglas Madrid of Nyssa shot outside a home in the 4400 block of Highway 201. Madrid, who had been shot in the head with a shotgun, was pronounced dead at an Ontario hospital.
Goldthorpe said it is not clear which of the four suspects actually fired the shot that killed Madrid. A disagreement over money is believed to have sparked the shooting, he said.
The DA declined to provide details about where or how Prokop, Carter and Macias were captured, saying he did not want to compromise search efforts for the remaining suspect.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Malheur County Sheriff's Office.
