EVENT GUIDE: 2018 Race for the Cure

On May 12, celebrate 20 years of Race for the Cure in Boise.

BOISE - The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will celebrate its 20th year in Boise on Saturday, May 12.

The annual event draws thousands of people to the City of Trees each year, raising millions of dollars for breast cancer research and treatment programs.

75 percent of net funds raised stay local to provide vital breast health services including, mammograms, diagnostics, patients assistance and education programs to those who are uninsured or underinsured living in Idaho and Montana.

To date, Komen Idaho Montana has invested over $7 million back into our local community for breast health programs.

In addition to raising money, the race also celebrates breast cancer survivors and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

REGISTRATION

Online registration ended May 1, but in-person registration will be available on Race Day (May 12) at the registration tent at Albertson’s Headquarters (250 E. Parkcenter Boulevard).

RACE REGISTRATION FEES

  • Adult - $35
  • Breast Cancer Survivor - $35
  • Youth (17 and under) - $30
  • Virtual Participant - $35

PACKET PICK-UP

Boise Outlet Mall, 6806 South Eisenman Road

  • Sunday, May 6: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Monday, May: 6:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 8: 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Race Day (May 12) at Albertsons HQ: 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.

Team captains can pick-up for their entire team.

PARKING AND SHUTTLES

Because of road closures on Parkcenter Boulevard, racers are encouraged to take a shuttle to the race site. Shuttles will depart from several different locations and are available on a first come, first served basis. Return shuttles will begin as soon as participants finish and load buses.

Departure locations and schedule:

  • Ram Restaurant and Brewery - Far east parking lot, 7:30 - 8:15 a.m.
  • Boise Factory Outlets - 7 a.m. - 8 a.m.

Survivors/Forever Fighters, Volunteer and Handicap Parking:

There will be special parking available for survivors wearing their pink shirts, volunteers with parking

passes and those who need handicap access. Special parking in the west lot of Albertsons Headquarters located at 250 E. Parkcenter Boulevard. Access to the lot will be closed at 8 a.m.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

There are a number of ways to get involved and make a contribution to RFTC. You can register to run or walk a 5K with your family and friends, start a team, volunteer on race day, fundraise, make a donation, or become a sponsor of the race.

If you don't want to start your own team, we would love to have you on ours - the 7's Pink Peacocks team. Because online registration has ended, you can register on race day at the registration tent. All team members will receive a fun participation gift.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE

7 a.m.

Registration Tent Open

Late registration and packet pick-up will be at the registration tent. Late registration fees apply.

EXPO Open

Take a loop around the EXPO and visit the sponsor booths. Sponsors are an important piece in making race day

possible! You can also stop by the team photo spot to have your picture taken.

Survivor Tent Open

Survivors/Forever Fighters will check in with volunteers at the Survivor Tent and will be allowed a plus-1

to join them for refreshments and lunch in the tent.

7:40 a.m.

Fundraising Awards Ceremony

Top fundraisers will be recognized on the Main Stage. These individuals take Komen's mission to heart - saving lives by meeting the most critical need in our communities and investing in break-through research to find the cure for breast cancer.

8 a.m. - 8:20 a.m.

Axiom Zumba Warm-up

Get warmed up for the race by joining a cardio-Latin fusion Zumba class, complete with incredible music and moves that are easy to learn. The fun warm-up event will take place at the Main Stage.

8:30 a.m. - 8:40 a.m.

Promise Parade & Group Photo

Survivors/Forever Fighters are encouraged to stand strong together and be recognized. Promise Parade participants will line-up at the main entrance of Albertsons headquarters. The parade route will end in front of Albertsons headquarters for the group photo.

9 a.m.

5K & 1 Mile Start

Participants with a white or pink bibs participating in the 5K or 1 mile will line up on Parkcenter

Boulevard in front of Albertsons headquarters.
