Boise State women beat New Mexico, win conference title

It's the Broncos' second-consecutive regular season Mountain West championship.

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise State women's basketball team won a crowd-pleaser at home Monday, defeating New Mexico to claim their second-consecutive Mountain West regular season championship.

The Broncos (24-4) defeated the Lobos (23-5) by a score of 70-66 to clinch the No. 1 seed at next week's conference tournament in Las Vegas.

On senior night, it was fitting that senior Marta Hermida had a stellar game, racking up a team-high 18 points to go with her five rebounds and five assists.

The Broncos forced 26 turnovers in the contest, which featured four lead changes and five ties.

The Mountain West Tournament gets underway on Sunday, March 10. Because Boise State is a No. 1 seed, they will get a bye in the first round, and will face the winner of Game 1 between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds.

The Broncos will finish out the regular season on Thursday at Air Force.
