MERIDIAN, Idaho — The city of Meridian will add a food court and game area to this year's Trunk or Treat on Thursday Oct. 24.

The event will take place in Downtown Meridian from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Road closures begin at 2:00 p.m. on East Broadway Avenue and East 2nd Street.

There will be over 120 decorated trunks hosted by local business where children can collect treats.

Once participants arrive and enter the queue they can move clockwise to visit all the trunks.

"We have created a larger event area and are working on reducing the lines," says Meridian Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator Renee White.

The event will also feature a couple of entertainment options.

The Ballet Folkloric Mexico will perform at 7:00 p.m. on the main stage and a street dance will begin at 7:30 p.m. for families.

"The event has become one of the most popular in Meridian. The costumes are spectacular. This is a fun night for families to enjoy the tradition of trick-or-treating. There is an incredible sense of community," White said in the press release.

Additionally, the Meridian Food Bank will be accepting food and cash donations at the event.
