Group offers free prom wear in exchange for volunteering

Drexel H. Foundation's Formal Closet in Vale, Oregon is offering tuxes and formal dresses to teens for free, in exchange for volunteering in the group's art programs.

VALE, Ore. - Prom season is an exciting time for high school students. But for many, getting outfitted for the big dance is something they simply can't afford.

That's where Drexel H. Foundation's Formal Closet in Vale, Oregon comes in. The organization has tuxes and more than 300 formal dresses available to teens for free.

The only catch? The recipient must volunteer in Drexel's art programs. Volunteer opportunities include making posters to organizing games and dances for kids.

The formal wear comes from a variety of sources.

"We have received many brand new dresses recently from commercial prom shops & consignment stores," said Sandijean Fuson, president of Drexel H. Foundation.

The Formal Closet has all sizes from extra small to 3X in a variety of colors and styles.
