Try this recipe for black-eyed peas from Brown Shuga Soul Food

INGREDIENTS

2 cups of black-eyed peas

4 cups of water

1\2 cup onion

Seasoning: garlic, pepper, salt, red pepper flakes - ½ tsp each

Ham, turkey leg or ham hock optional, but highly recommended

PREPARATION

Put it all in a Crock Pot and cook for several hours until beans are tender. Serve in a bowl with or without rice.
