BSU men's basketball coach Greg Graham

BOISEBoise State University today announced terms of new three-year contract with men’s head basketball coach Greg Graham that will pay him an annual salary of $345,000, plus bonuses based on the team's performance.

The Broncos are coming their most successful season ever after going 25-9, winning the WAC Championship and making it to the NCAA tournament.

School officials say the contract is still being finalized and will be presented for approval to the Idaho State Board of Education on June 19.

The three-year contract includes several incentives that could lengthen the term of the agreement beyond three years.  The additional years may only be earned during the initial three-year term.

He may also earn supplemental compensation each year based on the following accomplishments:

a)      $5,000 – WAC regular season champions

b)      $10,000 – WAC tournament championship, or $3,000 – WAC tournament finalist (greater of the two)

c)      $5,000 per game – NCAA tournament appearances

d)      $3,000 per game – NIT tournament appearances

e)      $4,000 – 20 wins

f)       $4,000 – Winning record (more wins than losses)

g)      $12,000 – NIT championship

h)      $10,000 – NCAA tournament “Sweet 16” appearance

Graham will also qualify for supplemental pay annually if the four-year Academic Progress Rate for that year meets certain levels in the national ranking within men’s basketball.  The team must also win a minimum of nine games during the academic year being considered.

He can also receive merit raises to his salary based on the number of wins in a season.

If Graham terminates the agreement during the first year (April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009) he will pay the university $250,000.  If the agreement is terminated during the second year (April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010) he will pay the university $125,000.
