Jerry Kramer to be inducted to East-West Shrine Game HOF

Kramer was Idaho's first ever football All-American.
Houston, TX – Jack Hart, Executive Director of the East West Shrine Game, has announced the 2009 Hall of Fame Inductees for the 84th game which will take place Saturday, Jan.17 at the University of Houston’s Robertson Stadium.
The football match up, which began in 1925, features many of the best college players in the nation divided by region, but coming together to raise money for Shriners Hospitals for Children, an international health care system of 22 hospitals across North America. It is also recognized as a prime scouting opportunity for NFL teams who are able to see many of the nation’s best college seniors in action.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2009 consists of Jerry Kramer from Idaho, 33rd Game, 1957, Charley Taylor from Arizona State, 39th Game, 1963, Brad Van Pelt from Michigan State, 48th Game, 1972 and Doug Williams from Grambling, 53rd Game, 1977. The players are set to be honored at the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony this Friday, Jan. 16 at 6:30pm at the J.W. Marriott in Houston.
Jerry Kramer, former professional football player, author and sports commentator may be best remembered for his 11-year NFL offensive lineman career with the Green Bay Packers. As a 6'3", 250 lb. right guard, #64 was an integral part of the famous "Packer Sweep.” Kramer was an All-Pro five times, and a member of the NFL's 50th anniversary team in 1969. Kramer participated in the 33rd East-West Shrine Game in 1957.
Kramer played football at the University of Idaho from 1955-58 and became the Vandals first football All-American. His no. 64 jersey was retired in 1963.
