BOISE -- Icy, snow-covered roads led to dozens of crashes in Ada County Saturday evening.

At one point, Idaho State Police were working at least six crashes or slide-offs on I-84 between Cloverdale and Eagle roads.

The eastbound lanes of the interstate were shut down for more than an hour, and traffic backed up for miles as crews worked to clear the wrecks.

A two-car rollover crash in the westbound lanes of I-84 near Broadway Avenue also backed up traffic.

The interstate was re-opened just before 9:30 p.m.

Ada County spokesperson Andrea Dearden said between 5 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the county handled 13 crashes, three rollovers and four slide-offs.

The Ada County Highway District has been out treating main roads, but police say it is still slick and advise drivers to take it slow.
