BOISE -- Several hundred people celebrated New Year's Day with an icy dip into the frigid waters of Lucky Peak Reservoir.

The Great Polar Bear Challenge 2010 was held Friday.  This was the 8th year of the fundraising event for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

There was lots of screaming from the participants who braved the 33-degree waters for just a few seconds all in the name of charity.

More than 200 people took part including KTVB's Larry Gebert who water skied on the icy reservoir.

Make-A-Wish officials estimate they will raise more than $17,000 to help children with life-threatening diseases.
