BOISE -- It was a happy ending earlier this week for a Meridian family that became stranded in the backcountry in Elmore County during a hunting trip.
The Rice family left home Sunday morning and was supposed to return later that day. When they did not family members became concerned.
Turns out that a mudslide blocked the road they were traveling on and it was the only way out.
Steven and Heather Rice and their two teenage sons were rescued by an Idaho National Guard helicopter on Tuesday. They were very thankful to their rescuers.
The couple joined our Dee Sarton and Carolyn Holly in the KTVB studio Thursday to talk about those two unexpected cold nights they spend in the wilderness.
