After three motorcycle accidents that turned into fatalities recently, Director of the STAR motorcycle safety program Stacey Axmaker, known as "Ax," is asking that both riders and drivers of motorcycles step up when it comes to safety on the road.

Axmaker joined our Mark Johnson on Monday to talk about the disturbing figures associated with motorcycle accidents on the road and misconceptions about who or what causes those accidents.

  • Fatalities involving rider error:  73-75%
  • Cruisers or touring bikes:  72%
  • Riders over 40 yrs:  68%
  • Riders running off the road:  43%
  • Alcohol/drugs:  33%
