BOISE -- 5-year-old twins Caleb and Emma Wiese recently celebrated their birthday, but unlike most kids, they didn't ask for presents for themselves.
Instead, they asked for food donations, so they could help less fortunate families.
"They agreed that they don't need anything, don't need toys, so we talked about helping others," said the twins' mom, Katie Wiese.
So for their birthday party, Katie set up a Facebook page to spread the word to family and friends. The party, called "Caleb and Emma's Birthday Wish," was a hit and the food came rolling in.
In total, the twins donated 483 pounds of food and $120 in cash to the Idaho Foodbank.
That translates to about 700 meals for Idaho families.
"They get it," said Katie. "you don't think a 5-year-old can get it, but they do and I am proud of them."
The Idaho Foodbank tells us this is a new trend with kids and birthday parties, and that they welcome the donations.
