BOISE -- Former Boise State linebacker Tommy Smith has accepted a coaching position at his alma mater, according to a source.

Smith, who played his last game at Boise State in December of 2012, will serve as a defensive graduate assistant this fall.

Following his collegiate football career, Smith signed a rookie free-agent contract with the Cleveland Browns, however, he failed to make the 53-man roster.

Smith racked up 128 tackles in 51 career games at Boise State. He finished with a career-high 61 stops as a senior in 2012.
