BOISE -- Four years ago, tight end Jake Hardee was offered a preferred walk-on spot on the Bronco football team.

On Saturday, Boise State head coach Bryan Harsin rewarded Hardee's effort by putting him on scholarship.

"Just a dream come true. It's something I've been working hard for for the last three or four years," Hardee said. "When I was offered the walk-on spot I said 'I'm going to do everything I can do to earn a scholarship.'"

Harsin surprised Hardee by calling him up in front of his teammates and making the announcement. The news was well received, as Hardee's teammates stood in applause and chatted his name.

"To have the respect of my teammates and to have them rooting for me, it means a lot," Hardee said. "Even more than the scholarship."
