BOISE -- After nearly claiming the Northwest League Championship last year, the Boise Hawks are ready to start up another promising season.
Hawks manager Gary Van Tol and the rest of the team arrived in Boise Tuesday afternoon with just a few days to prepare for their first game.
The Hawks players met with their host families Tuesday night, and will begin to make the City of Trees their home for the next several months. As they get settled in, they can take a night to relax as Wednesday they have a full media day, followed by a day of practice and then the first game.
The Hawks will take on the Tri-City Dust Devils Friday night at Memorial Stadium to get the season underway.
This game will be the start of of five game series between the Hawks and the Dest Devils. The first pitch will be at 7:15 p.m., and there will be fireworks following the game in celebration of the season getting underway.
