BOISE -- Tuesday morning, the Utah Jazz officially announced they will enter into a single affiliation partnership with the Idaho Stampede for the upcoming 2014-2015 NBA D-League season. With this affiliation in place, the Jazz have now become a record 17th NBA team to have an affiliation with a team one-on-one. With this connection, the Jazz will now be able to manage all of the basketball operations of the Idaho Stampede. With some strong draft pick ups by the Jazz and experienced talent returning, they look to have a promising 2014-2015 season.

Partnering with the Idaho Stampede is another step forward in the growth and expansion of our basketball operations and will provide us with an opportunity to further enhance the development of our young players said Jazz President, Randy Rigby, Tuesday in a press release.

With Salt Lake City located just 350 miles from Boise, there is a strong Jazz base in the Boise area and there are many ties to the organization itself. The Jazz have previously held training camps on the campus of BSU, played in eight preseason games in Idaho, and most recently hosted the Portland Trailblazers at Century Link Arena, in Boise, on Oct. 11, 2013.

The Jazz have had some talented young players develop in Boise previously, eventually working their way up to play a critical role for the Jazz. Mid-season, while playing for the Stampede, Sundiata Gaines was called up on a 10-day contract for the Jazz. On the ninth day of that contract he made his mark for the Jazz by hitting a game winning three to lift the Jazz past LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Idaho Stampede are thrilled to partner with the Utah Jazz, as their new single-affiliate team in the NBA D-League, said Bill Ilett, managing investor for the Stampede, We are excited to be a part of the development of their new young squad of players over the next several years. Basketball fans in Southern Idaho have always loved the Jazz and we are all now part of the Jazz family.
