BOISE -- Goaltender Olivier Roy stymied the Idaho Steelheads, stopping 35-of-36 shots, as the Stockton Thunder beat the Steelheads 3-1 to take a one game series lead in Game 1 of the ECHL Western Conference Finals on Friday night.

Game 2 of the best of seven series is set for Sunday evening at CenturyLink Arena.

The first period was a scoreless affair, as both teams got shots on goal, but Roy and his counterpart Josh Robinson kept the game scoreless after one.

Stockton broke the scoreless tie in the second when Andrew Clark backhanded a screened shot from the left-hand side past Robinson.

Idaho answered at the beginning of the third period when David deKastrozza found room in the slot and knocked in a Brett Robinson assist to tie the game at 1-1.

But the tie would not last long, as Stockton took the lead midway through the third on a Maxime Boisclair shot to go up 2-1. The Thunder added one more insurance goal with 1:27 remaining in the game thanks to a Ryan Hayes wrister past Robinson.

The Steelheads will look to even the series on Sunday when they host the Thunder at 5:10 p.m. at CenturyLink Arena.
