BOISE - Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has tapped Sandy Jones to serve as the executive director of the Idaho Commissions of Pardons and Parole when longtime director Olivia Craven retires next month.
Jones is currently the head of the Jail Reentry Programs and Alternative Sentencing for the Ada County Sheriff's Office.
Otter announced the new appointment last week, lauding Jones' work managing the startup of a misdemeanor probation program for the state's largest county.
Otter also said Jones' enthusiasm for the state's efforts to control prison population growth make her an excellent choice for the job.
Craven has served as executive director at Pardons and Parole since July 1984, and she previously worked for the Idaho Supreme Court and the Idaho Department of Correction.
