NAMPA -- Crews spent Sunday afternoon tearing up and repairing a Nampa street after neighbors noticed a section bubbling with water and beginning to sink.
Neighbors called police early Sunday afternoon, saying they saw flooding and heard a popping sound coming from under the roadway and sidewalk on Holly Street near the intersection of Colorado Avenue. Police quickly blocked off the damaged section.
One of the neighbors, Robert Cook, told KTVB he was worried about a bigger sinkhole forming and possible flooding.
"When I came outside, I seen a big hill in the middle of the street and water was just flooding everywhere," said Cook. "At first I thought it was just somebody washing their car or a sprinkler got loose, but then I started seeing bubbles coming up from the middle of the street where the crack was at."
Cook says he could hear a popping sound coming from under the street and sidewalk.
A crew arrived with a backhoe several hours later and began work on repairing the damaged section of road.
At this point, there is no word on what caused the flooding and resulting damage to the road.
