MERIDIAN - Meridian High School students will have 13 newly renovated classrooms come Monday.

In the second year of a six year, $25 million renovation, Meridian's north side building was stripped and gutted to upgrade its heating and cooling systems, along with updated science labs and classrooms.

Because a majority of the school's classrooms were under construction last year, Principal Geoff Stands said students were dispersed around the school and utilized every classroom available to accommodate the renovation. A few portable classrooms were brought in to ease overcrowding.

The reopening of classrooms will alleviate last year's overcrowding woes.

The next phase will include building an extension off the cafeteria which will yield eight new classrooms.
