It happened around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Eaton Road and West 3rd Street North in Middleton.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office says when deputies arrived on scene, the driver became non-compliant and was detained.

Because of the ruptured gas line and strong winds at the time, nearby residents were told to evacuate. They were allowed back into their homes 15 minutes later.

The 38-year-old driver was taken to a hospital to be treated for gas exposure. At this point, no charges have been filed against him.
