TWIN FALLS -- Twin Falls police are investigating after two bodies were found inside a home Tuesday morning.
City spokesman Josh Palmer said around 11:30 a.m. a mail carrier smelled an odor outside the house at 298 Madison Street, and noticed the front door was open. When the mail carrier peered inside, she saw the feet of a body lying on the floor.
She immediately called police, who arrived to find a man and woman dead inside. The pair did not die of natural causes, Palmer said.
The area around the house has been blocked off as detectives investigate and search the home. Police say the deaths are an "isolated incident" and there is no immediate threat to the public.
Palmer says its unclear how long the couple, a middle aged man and woman, have been dead.
Neighbors were surprised by the news, saying there were a nice couple who had lived in the home for several years.
"I couldn't believe it, it was crazy. Mostly kept to themselves, I saw them out in their yard, but that was about it," a neighbor told KTVB.
Investigators spent the day gathering evidence inside the home, but have said little about how the couple died.
We did talk with one neighbor who said he last saw the couple on Saturday.
Police are not releasing the names of the victims at this time as they work to notify their relatives.
Autopsies are planned for Wednesday. We expect to learn the identities of the victims after the autopsies are complete.
