CALDWELL -- A Texas fugitive was arrested late Friday night after robbing a Caldwell convenience store, police said.
27-year-old Roel Garcia was taken into custody outside a Caldwell restaurant and bar on Cleveland Boulevard. Police say he went there after robbing a Stinker Station at the intersection of 7th and Cleveland at about 7:15 Friday evening.
Investigators say they were able to identify Garcia from security camera footage at the store.
At about 9 p.m. that same night, police got reports of a reckless driver speeding and running stop lights. The vehicle matched the description of Garcia's and was found parked behind a restaurant.
Police say they did not want to approach a potentially armed suspect inside the business, and instead waited for him to exit the building. Garcia was surrounded by officers and arrested without incident, police said.
Garcia was booked into the Canyon County Jail on charges of robbery, resisting and obstructing officers, reckless driving, driving without privileges, and a fugitive warrant out of Texas.
Caldwell Police Chief Chris Allgood told KTVB that Garcia initially gave them an alias of Jose Diaz.
