BOISE -- An empty parking lot on the corner of West Fairview Avenue and South 25th Street is now the new West End Food Park. There were plenty of hungry people there Thursday evening for the kickoff.

Matt Blazek was hoping to sell something to wash down the food truck creations. He runs The Beer Guys, a beer truck that had 11 different suds on tap.

We're three years in, and we have this thing going, and then we have the van next to me, and we just do block parties all over town, and different events, weddings and stuff, and we got invited to do this today, said Blazek.

Blazek and other trucks decided to forgo crowds around the Downtown Boise area for first Thursday to come to the kickoff of the food truck park. They're excited about bringing other food options to the West End and even to the Downtown area.

You can have six or seven options and get one guy to get 50 people and come down and get six different options for an entire office, said Tom Kress. I think that's where it should be. I think we need to be able to have concert, and music, and fun, but we also need to feed Downtown, and try to get some of that Downtown action over here

Kress feeds the masses with grass fed burgers from his truck, Burgerlicious, and is looking forward to a more permanent place to sell his creations.

The reason that this is so good is if I don't have an event or I don't have a catering, I have a spot I can come to and it's always here, said Kress.

Kress said there are about 13 food trucks in Boise, and more elsewhere in the Treasure Valley who could all benefit from this food truck park, all while bringing people to Boise's West End.

This gives a chance for people to come out, foodies, to have good food, a good time, and check out some of the different crazy things people are doing in their trucks, Kress said.

Kress told KTVB that the folks running the park are still working out how trucks will pay to park in the area.
