GARDEN CITY, Idaho -- The proposed smoking ban in Garden City is on hold for now.
The ordinance was supposed to go before city council this coming Monday for a third and final reading, but Garden City Mayor John Evans had the item pulled from the agenda.
Evans told KTVB he believes the current ordinance doesn't make any sense.
He's also concerned it would unfairly segregate 18 to 20-year-olds who would be banned from smoking in hookah bars in Garden City even though state law says it's legal for them to smoke.
Council members could override Mayor Evans and vote to put the smoking ban ordinance back on an agenda at a future meeting.
