GARDEN CITY, Idaho -- A Garden City man was arrested Monday evening after police say he assaulted his wife, then badly cut himself punching through a window.
Officers were called to the home in the 400 block of East 46th Street in Garden City just before 7:30 p.m. The victim told police she had been beaten by her husband, 23-year-old Garrett Brownfield.
The victim told police Brownfield had just left the scene in a vehicle. When officers found the vehicle and pulled it over, they noticed the suspect was bleeding heavily from a serious cut on his right arm.
Officers used a tourniquet to staunch the bleeding and called Ada County Paramedics, who rushed Brownfield to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
According to a witness, Brownfield had punched through a window at the home, cutting his arm. Police say they found bloody and broken glass at the scene.
After receiving medical treatment for the injury, Brownfield was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail. He has been charged with felony attempted strangulation, misdemeanor domestic battery in the presence of children and a misdemeanor probation violation.
Brownfield is due to appear in court Tuesday afternoon. The incident remains under investigation.
