BOISE -- A Boise woman who set fire to her home in December 2012 with her three children inside will spend at least three years in prison.
A judge handed down a 20-year sentence to Jodi Bassett this afternoon. She'll be eligible for parole in three years.
Bassett pled guilty in June to charges of arson and felony injury. She set fire to a home on Yorktown Way.
The home exploded when firefighters arrived, and the three kids were fortunately able to make it out safely.
In court Wednesday, a tearful Bassett read a statement apologizing to her kids.
"What my desire as a mother who loves them very, very much is that they are happy, healthy and safe, and it hurts me terribly to admit that I hurt them deeply and right now it is important that they are not with me while it rebuild myself."
One neighbor we spoke to at the time of the fire told us Bassett had been acting strangely in the months leading up to the fire.
