BOISE -- A Portland man was arrested Tuesday morning after a woman complained to police that he had pocketed all the money she earned as a prostitute.
The woman told officers who responded to the 2700 block of Airport Way that she and 27-year-old Ellante Davon Williams had traveled from California to Boise to several days ago so she could work as a prostitute. Police investigated and found evidence that Williams was keeping the money the woman had made, and arrested him for accepting the earnings of a prostitute.
After officers continued their investigation Wednesday, prosecutors opted to add more felony charges: a second count of accepting the earnings of a prostitute and interstate trafficking in prostitution.
The woman who reported the situation is considered a victim, and has not been charged with a crime. Police say a suspect does not have to force or coerce someone into working as a prostitute in order to be charged with trafficking.
Williams is set to be arraigned in court Wednesday afternoon. If convicted of all three felonies, he could face a minimum of two years and a maximum of 20 years in prison for each charge.
