BOISE -- Finding more money for Idaho's schools while addressing the state's latest set of educational standards are just some of the goals candidates running to be Idaho's top elected education official hope to address.
Four Republicans with educator backgrounds but no political experience are running in the May 20 primary election to replace incumbent Tom Luna. Luna announced earlier this year he would not seek a third term.
Whoever wins that race will face Democrat Jana Jones - who barely lost to Luna in 2006 - in November's general election. Jones, a former chief deputy superintendent of public instruction, has no challenger in the primary election.
The GOP candidates are Sherri Ybarra of Mountain Home, Randy Jensen of American Falls, Andy Grover of Melba and John Eynon of Cottonwood.
