BOISE -- Those in support of same-sex marriage showed up for their cause at Boise City Hall today.

Some same-sex couples that showed up to try to get a marriage license and marched from city hall to the Ada County Courthouse.

Supporters say they want to show that lives are being affected by the ban on same-sex marriage.

The protest was a peaceful one that included about 30 people.

One couple at the rally got married in 2004 in Canada, but wanted to show their support for others.

To put an image and a face and show that there are hearts behind this movement, said Lance Mace. I believe that showing people, and true stories will actually change hearts and minds.

Those couples that went to the courthouse were denied a marriage license. They said that getting visibility is important to their cause.
