BOISE COUNTY - The 12-mile stretch of Idaho 21 between the Grandjean Junction and Banner Summit known as Avalanche Alley, was reopened to traffic around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Idaho Transportation Department. The highway had been closed since Friday.

ITD reported the area received 26 inches of snow over the weekend and there was a lot of cleanup work to get the road open again.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling in the mountains because the avalanche danger is still considerable.

Avalanche Alley has now been closed twice this winter.
