BOISE -- On the eve of Halloween, a Day of the Dead Altar was dedicated to former Secretary of State, Pete Cenarrusa at the Consulate of Mexico in Boise.

An altar is built by Mexicans to honor the beloved ones, but also public figures that pass away.

People place personal items and other handcrafted figures, such as sugar skulls, colorful paintings and candles inside the altar in their honor.

Organizers wanted to honor Pete Cenarrusa his many accomplishments as a distinguished Idahoan.

He passed away last month at the age of 95.
