EAGLE -- Ada County Commissioners and the Eagle City Council are still at odds over the Ada-Eagle Sports Complex, but Friday were able to resolve one of their differences over the project.
The plan is to develop the site into a winter terrain park, as well as a series of walking and mountain biking trails. ButAda County, which leases the area to the city of Eagle, put a stop-work order on a trail earlier this week.
A portion of the park land is in the county, and we had not submitted a grading permit, said Eagle City Councilman Mark Butler. There's an exemption to it and we thought because we'd been doing a lot of work in the past six or eight years that we wouldn't have to submit something.
Butler thinks the Ada County Commissioners may have noticed the issue with the trail because of other plans for the park.
I think since their view was focused over to that area for the terrain park, then they noticed this and wanted to be sure that every 'i' was dotted and 't' was crossed, he said.
Friday afternoon, Ada County lifted the stop-work order. They sent a statement saying, in part: With this action, Ada County Commissioners have reaffirmed their interest in working cooperatively with the City of Eagle to develop the Sports Complex into a wonderful asset that can be enjoyed by residents county-wide.
The new bike trail is expected to be finished in the next few weeks. They will also be doing some maintenance on older existing trails.
Ada County and the City of Eagle are still discussing wording in the lease agreement for the land, specifically surrounding the winter terrain park.
Our attorneys had advised us that we lease the land and we've got a long term lease and everything we we doing approving the concession agreement was within the lease and there was no requirement to go to Ada County, said Butler.
Right now, it is uncertain when work on the terrain park will start.
The question would be when Ryan Neptune would start on it, and from what I understand he's waiting to see what happens with the county, Butler said. He doesn't want any hangups.
The Ada County Commission and Eagle City Council have a meeting set for October 9.
