BOISE -- The ink hasn t dried yet on the sales contract between Albertsons LLC (the local company that bought back the Albertsons stores from Minnesota-based Supervalu), but that didn t stop them from making a big announcement about the future of the Boise Open that bears the company's name.
Albertsons LLC Chief Operating Officer Bob Butler announced today a new 3-year extension as title sponsor of Boise's annual Web.Com Tour stop.
We are very pleased to continue this great tradition here in our home town. I have watched this tournament grow and the competition get tougher and tougher with each year, and I ve also been able to see the positive impact of this event on hundreds of charities throughout the Treasure Valley. It s a tremendous privilege to be part of it, said Butler.
More than a golf tournament, this event raises over a million dollars every year for local charities.
The Boise Open's Jeff Sanders says having the event back under the umbrella of locally run Albertsons is huge for the region.
We are most excited about the opportunity to showcase the amazing talent on the Web.Com Tour in Boise and to play a role in providing much needed charity dollars to the Boise community for years to come. Our sights are set on reaching $20 Million to Treasure Valley organizations. Albertsons has been such a great title sponsor for 24 years and we are very grateful to Bob Miller, Bob Butler and the Executive Team for the decision to continue.
The Albertsons Boise Open has given over $14 million to local charities in the last 23 years.
The tournament has been moved up this year and runs from July 22-28 at Hillcrest Country Club.
