BOISE -- Call it a reverse boycott.

Customers showed up for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day at locations across the country, including the restaurant on the Boise State University campus.

Chick-fil-A came under criticism last week for its president's public opposition to gay marriage.

But the company has lots of supporters, particularly former presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, who organized this appreciation day.

Hundreds stopped by the Boise location this afternoon, and the restaurant even extended its normal hours to accommodate all the patrons.

Here to support the owner of Chick-fil-A and his freedom of speech and right to choice, said Wayne Eklund of Kuna. I understand other people's freedoms as well, but we're just here to support them.

In a statement from Chick-fil-A, the company said it appreciates all of our customers and are glad to serve them at any time.
