BOISE -- Because the air quality in the Treasure Valley is so poor, the k.d. Lang concert at the Eagle River Pavilion tonight has been canceled. Ticketfly will issue refunds.

If you have gone outside then you know its hazy and smelly from all that smoke from the wildfires burning nearby.

The Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Orange Air Quality Alert Thursday morning for Ada and Canyon Counties.

DEQ says an Orange Air Quality Alert means that the air quality is acceptable, but strenuous outdoor activities should be limited. For people who have respiratory problems, this can make their symptoms worse.

There are very small particles from the smoke from fires, and those are small enough that they actually penetrate deep into the lung, says Dr. John East. They are not filtered out when you breathe.

An outdoor burning ban is in effect in all of Ada and Canyon counties.
