BOISE -- The Boise Rescue Mission is running low on food donations. To help, the WOW 104.3 morning show hosts decided to step in and do something about it.

This week, Randy and Alana presented the kids at our local schools with a challenge. The class who brings in the most canned food for the Rescue Mission will win big. They are calling it the Can-O-Lantern Classroom Challenge.

Every morning, Randy and Alana help you start your day on WOW. They love working together, and being a part of the Treasure Valley community, so when they heard a call for help -- they answered.

The Boise Rescue Mission tweeted that they were really low on canned food going into the holiday season, said Randy Scott.

And because of that tweet, that is how the great Can-O-Lantern Classroom Challenge was born. said Alana Lynn on the radio last week. So what we're asking you to do in your classroom, gather as many canned food products as you can. The classroom that gathers the most will win a Halloween party.

We're going to do our show live from your classroom and disrupt it as much as humanly possible for an hour, said Randy Scott over the air.

The winning class was chosen, and Thursday the WOW 104.3 van pulled up at Rolling Hills Public Charter School for the big Halloween surprise.

Everyone is going to get a pumpkin from the Farmstead, and we're also going to have a party for you on Monday, Randy Scott told the 5th graders at Rolling Hills.

The kids in Mrs. Sevier's 5th grade class were shocked to find out they brought in enough cans to win.

These 5th graders brought in can after can.

Kids never cease to amaze me with the power of giving and what's in their heart to give, said Alana.

Now, the Boise Rescue Mission will get a lot of food, because of the generous kids at Rolling Hills.

Even more food is coming in for the Rescue Mission from all of the other schools that competed in the Can-O-Lantern Classroom Challenge.
