BOISE -- The Ada County coroner says a woman found dead in a Boise canal Thursday morning likely died from accidental drowing. The coroner's office released its finding Friday morning after completing an autopsy on the body. No signs of trauma were found.
However, positive identification of the woman is still pending. And, it could take several weeks to receive toxicology results to get an official cause of death.
Police are continuing to investigate after a body was found Thursday morning in a Northwest Boise canal.
A canal company employee found the body of a woman behind a church near State Street and Collister Drive at about 9 a.m., according to Boise Police spokesperson Lynn Hightower.
Hightower said the body was in several feet of water.
Police say foul play is not suspected and there is not any kind of public safety threat connected to this case.
