MERIDIAN -- The Meridian School district will undergo a complete review of a supplemental reading list after parent complaints about the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie.

The Board of Trustees approved the review at a special meeting on April 1st.

Some school board trustees also expressed concern that the book's reading level is too low for sophomore literature. The Meridian School District has not done a comprehensive review of its supplemental reading list since 2000. District officials say the review will be completed before the start of next school year.

While that review is underway the book will not be listed on class reading lists but will still be available in school libraries.
