MERIDIAN Public outcry from businesses and a local church appear to have helped put plans for proposed medians on Franklin Road on hold for now.

The Ada County Highway District proposed one median to go in front of the Ten Mile Christian Church's entrance to make the road safer.

While Franklin Road will still be widened to five lanes, ACHD spokeswoman Nicole Pineda says planners reconsidered the plan for medians and decided at this time that they are not needed.

Church members voiced the most concern about the project.

We are concerned with what people say and how they feel and we always take that into account, but again the safety card trumps all, said Pineda.

Wednesday night the commission will be presented with a recommendation to remove all planned medians from Franklin Road s construction plans.

So it s still not a done deal yet, commissioners will still have to approve it.
