BOISE -- The Ada County coroner has released the identity of a motorcyclist who died after being involved in a crash on Fairview Avenue just east of Cloverdale Road Sunday night.
The crash victim is 20-year-old Robert Nersveen of Meridian. Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg says he was not wearing a helmet and died from blunt force trauma.
Officers say Nersveen and a car collided near the intersection of Bryson Road around 10:30 p.m.
Boise police say the crash happened as Nersveen was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles on the right, according to witnesses.
Police say he hit an oncoming car as he drove westbound in the far right lane.
According to reports, the driver of the car was headed eastbound and attempting to make a left-hand turn when the crash happened.
Authorities say Nersveen was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m.
Police say a passenger in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital, but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.
