BOISE -- This year's Beat Coach Pete race was a huge success!
Organizers tell us that nearly 2,300 people participated in Saturday's race and they raised $35,000 for the general student scholarship fund at Boise State University.
BSU head football coach Chris Petersen promised to donate $5 for every participant that beat him. Coach Pete finished the race in 27 minutes and 11 seconds.
Exactly 1,000 racers topped his time, so Pete donated $5,000 to the scholarship fund, with registration fees and donations bringing the total amount raised to $35,000.
In the six years the Beat Coach Pete Scholarship Run/Walk has been held, over $173,000 in scholarship money has been raised for BSU.
Next year's race will be held on Saturday, April 12.
