BOISE A 26-year-old Post Falls man is $100,000 richer thanks to a detour he took on his way home Tuesday night.

Idaho Lottery officials say Jon Bartlett stopped at the Freeway Jifi Stop in Coeur d Alene to pick up a few items. He also bought one $10 Money Train scratch ticket.

At first, I thought I d only won $100, but then I saw it was a lot more than that, said Bartlett. I drove straight to my parent s house, and honestly, don t remember putting the truck into park. I woke them up, made them look at the ticket just to be sure I was right.

The winning number, 26, matched Bartlett's age. It also won the the top prize of $100,000.

Jon, his dad and son loaded into in his truck and drove all night to claim his prize at Lottery headquarters in Boise Wednesday morning.

There s not a lot of traffic on the highway at 2 a.m., said Bartlett. We never thought ever that we would be in Boise to claim a big prize from the Lottery. But here we are!

Bartlett says he plans make some vehicle repairs and then put the remainder of his winnings into savings for his son s education.

For selling the winning ticket, the Freeway Jifi Stop receives a $10,000 bonus from the Idaho Lottery.
