BOISE -- Boise State University and the University of Virginia announced on Monday that the two schools have agreed to a home and home football series for the years 2015 and 2017. The Broncos will travel to Charlottesville on September 26, 2015, and will then host the Cavaliers on September 23, 2017.

This will be the first time that the two teams have competed against each other in football.
Our goals, one of my goals, is how can we get some of these BCS programs to come out here, Boise State Director of Athletics Mark Coyle said. Boise State has been great about going on the road, and playing neutral site games. Which are wonderful venues, and wonderful events. But, we owe it to our fans to try to get some of these BCS teams to come out here and play us on our field. We want to make decisions that keep our fans excited. Bronco Nation is such a big part of what we do here, and we think this will be a great game for our fans in a few years.

Boise State has faced two other opponents from the ACC. The Broncos lost to Boston College in the 2005 MPC Computers Bowl, and beat Virginia Tech to open the 2010 season.

Boise State and Virginia will exchange a guarantee of $200,000.

Other nonconference games for Boise State in 2015 include a trip to BYU, and a home game against the University of Washington. In 2017, Boise State currently has nonconference games scheduled at Washington State and BYU.
