BOISE -- It continues to be rollercoaster ride for drivers as gas prices go up and down.

AAA says drivers saw the most expensive, as well as the cheapest, prices in 2012.

Right now, it's on the low end at under $3 for a gallon of gas in Boise.

The average price for a gallon of gas in Idaho for 2012 was $3.58, making it the highest on record.

The lowest price was on Jan. 17, 2012, when gas cost $3.04 per gallon.

The highest price was in September at $3.88 at the end of the summer driving season.

AAA says hurricanes, distribution problems, domestic refinery closures and other issues caused the fluctuating costs.
