NEW YORK -- KTVB formally accepted a prestigious award in New York City Monday night.

The Radio-Television Digital News Association honored the 2012 winners of the National Edward R. Murrow awards, and for the fourth straight year, KTVB was among the honorees.

The organization bestowed KTVB.COM the title of the nation's best local news website in its division, the second straight year the site has been given the award.

KTVB Executive News Director Kate Morris accepted the award at Monday's ceremony.

We are very proud to have a legacy of award-winning journalism at KTVB, said Morris. We take great pride in the quality of content we provide viewers on-air, online and on mobile, and we are honored to receive this prestigious award recognizing our effort to provide important local content on multiple platforms with the goal of making a meaningful impact on our community at large.

KTVB.COM first won the regional award for the Northwest in April, and winners from all 13 regions proceeded to national judging. Entries were evaluated on an array of factors, including depth and quality, content, innovation, use of video, design, functionality, interactivity and storytelling techniques.

KTVB first brought news to the online audience in May of 1995. KTVB.COM's mission is to be Idaho s number one resource for news and weather. KTVB s digital team is made up of five dedicated producers in addition to contributions from nearly every member of the KTVB News organization.

The website is the digital hub for expanding multi-platform offerings that provide free news and information wherever and whenever people want it. The team is also responsible for being part of the social media community with KTVB's Facebook page and Twitter feed as well as an array of six separate mobile apps that have been downloaded more than 80,000 times. The KTVB.COM network is visited by more than 750,000 users on average each month and delivered nearly 14 million page views in May.

KTVB's past National Murrow wins include best website in 2011, overall excellence and best newscast in 2010 and continuing coverage and videography in 2009. The station has also won for sports reporting and spot (breaking) news in past years, and is the only Idaho television station to ever win at the national level.
